Land Adventures in St. Lucia

Views of St Lucia Piton Mountains

St. Lucia is the ideal vacation getaway for those seeking new adventures and chasing views. The lush rainforest, the mountain terrains, and a drive-thru volcano bring a unique quality and experience to the Caribbean that draws many tourists to this island per year.

The top-rated activity to do while on the island is taking your vacation to new heights and hiking the Piton Mountains. These volcanic mountain peaks of Gros Piton and its twin peak Petit Piton are iconic to the island and are stunning to see. Get up close and personal with these mountains by soaring above the sea and climbing to nearly 3,000 ft above sea level. Though this hike is not accessible by any means, you will experience a once-in-a-lifetime walk through jungle lush forest, boulder-driven steep mountain trails, and an epic view at the top! You will truly capture the essence of the beautiful island life. The total average duration for hiking to the top and back ranges from 3-6 hours. Just make sure if this hike seems perfect for you to attempt, stay hydrated, bring a protein bar and make sure to pack sunscreen and bug spray!

If hiking the Pitons might be too strenuous on the body, St Lucia has an abundance of nature and rainforest trails that are more easily accessible throughout the island. Get lost in the beauty of the lush green rainforests, cascading waterfalls trails, or take a stroll along the coastline to take in the scenic views.  Most hiking trails are part of a guided tour that will give you a better perspective of island life, but you do have options to do a self-guided tour. Just be mindful of the wildlife on the island, caution signs, and always leave no trace behind.

If your travel style is more adrenaline and thrill-seeking, St Lucia offers various tours that will leave your heart beating! Fly through the rainforest canopies by zip lining and capturing views that can only be accessed by doing this high thrill adventure or spend your time revving up the engine and cruising through tropical landscapes, banana plantations, farming communities, and visiting historic sites on an ATV. The best part of exploring the island via ATV is discovering places that normal roads and vehicles cannot reach.

Depending on your location of accommodations, located North on the island stands the Pigeon Island National Park. The entrance fee to this beautiful and historical park is $10 US and will allow you to hike to Fort Rodney, take in the surrounding views of the Island of Martinique, and climb to Signal Peak at the highest point of the National Park. Hiking to the top can get tiring while traversing over boulders, but the view is entirely worth it!
